These are the tags used to structure your page into useful sections. Effective use of these tags will mean that the page is set out properly and therefor more user friendly.
-

- Paragraph. This is used to define paragraphs. Usually the closing tag isn't needed and the opening one is used to separate or start paragraphs. This tag is equivalent to 2 carriage returns. Note: Using multiple
tags will not produce a large vertical break. Multiple
tags do the same thing as a single one. To have a number of blank lines you need to use multiple
tags.
-
- Line Break. Equivalent to one carriage return, it is used to start text on a new line. This is a fairly popular tag.
-
- Horizontal Rule. These are horizontal lines displayed in the browser commonly used to separate sections. This tag can be manipulated to produce different lines (see example). The Separator lines in this page are not horizontal rules using the
tag, they are images. The thickness of the line can be adjusted by using SIZE="?", and the width using WIDTH="?". The Width can also be represented as a percentage of the page by using WIDTH="??%". As with most objects, the colour of the Horizontal rule can also be change usingCOLOR="#??????", also within the
Tag.
-
- Solid Line. By using the NOSHADE feature, you can make the line solid, ie. without the 3D cutout.
-
- Alignment. By adding the ALIGN="?" tag in you can choose to have your Horizontal Line on the Left, in the centre or to the right of the page.
- - No Line breaks. If it is so desired that you wish text to continue in one straight line and not to wrap, making the user scroll to the right to see the rest of the line, this is the tag to use.
